SEATTLE - Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is crying foul after John McCain's apparent victory in the Washington caucuses on Saturday.

Campaign Chairman Ed Rollins issued a press release, saying the campaign is "deeply disturbed by the obvious irregularities in the Washington State Republican precinct caucuses."

With about 87 percent of precincts reporting Saturday, Wash. State Republican Party Chairman Luke Esser issued a statement congratulating McCain on a "hard-fought win," and Huckabee on a "strong second-place finish." McCain won 26 percent of the vote, and Huckabee got 24 percent, according to the GOP's tally.

The following quotation somehow seems appropriate:
Boss Tweed: Remember the first rule of politics. The ballots don't make the results, the counters make the results. The counters. Keep counting.
