President Bush Discusses Protect America Act
Oval Office
13 Feb 2008
THE PRESIDENT: Director, thank you for joining me. Good morning. At this moment, somewhere in the world, terrorists are planning new attacks on our country. Their goal is to bring destruction to our shores that will make September the 11th pale by comparison. To carry out their plans, they must communicate with each other, they must recruit operatives, and they must share information.
He has nothing else to sell, only fear.
Suppose for a moment W's assertion is true, and that "At this moment, somewhere in the world, terrorists are planning new attacks on our country." Isn't this a stunning indictment of W's failure, six-and-a-half years after 9/11?
Suppose for a moment the assertion is true. How does W know this? Have our intelligence agencies in fact intercepted communications confirming this assertion? If so, wouldn't it be a good tactic to let Congress know, thus providing a sound rationale for passing the odious bill?
But, no. It's probably not true. It is only the hyperbolic ravings of a small man who has nothing else to sell... except fear.
Stop the madness!
