No time like the present: act!

As documented in a couple of posts below, I've some ambiguous circumstantial evidence that Senators & candidates DO listen.

Nothing is sadder than the folks who take the time to comment on blogs, only to ridicule those of us who believe writing letters, sending emails, and making phone calls can help. Maybe they're right, but it is still a lot more productive - and personally rewarding - to write the letter, send the email, or make the phone call than to bitch about our powerlessness in the comment section of a blog!... and it doesn't take any more time to write the letter, send the email, or make the phone call than it does to write the comment!!

My advice? Send money to your favorite candidate or cause (political or otherwise). Include a brief note with your $. The brief note can be "brilliant advice", or simply a statement letting recipient know why you're sending $. You'll feel better for it.

Are you creative? Produce a campaign ad - post it on YouTube.

The nay-sayers may be right, of course... BUT - it's a whole lot more fulfilling to attempt a constructive contribution than it is to simply complain about the evil state of the world. Even if no one listens, at least you've had your say. (This is largely the motivation for this blog.)

... and I almost forgot: Happy New Year!
